More on Providence’s In-Home with Jalen Lindsey on Wednesday

The Providence staff is getting very familiar with Nashville, Tennessee.

Ed Cooley was there to visit superstar 2014 recruit Jalen Lindsey in October then once again in February, and according to Lindsey’s coach at Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA) Drew Maddux the Providence staff will have an in-home visit with Lindsey on Wednesday.

Lindsey is coming off of a tremendous junior season in which he averaged over 20 points and 8 rebounds per game in leading CPA to their second straight state championship. Maxpreps recently named Lindsey to their All American Junior Team and heard from a who’s who of college basketball’s elite as the spring recruiting period kicked off.

Some of the schools that called him on the first night of the live recruiting period include Florida, Louisville, Kentucky, Duke, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Ohio State and North Carolina State.

The Friars are also recruiting Lindsey’s teammate, 6’7 Braxton Blackwell, who is emerging as one of the top prospects in the class of 2016. Maddux told me last September that Blackwell caught the eye of the staff when they were in to recruit Lindsey last fall.

Lindsey’s recruitment will be an interesting one for Friar fans to follow this summer. Clearly, the competition is tremendous, but Lindsey’s father, Walter, is a Providence native and Cooley and his staff have been pursuing Lindsey for some time now, attending a number of his AAU games last summer and hosting him for a campus visit last July.

Maddux called Lindsey “a great blend of humility and confidence” in my conversation with him last fall.

Craig Leighton took a Closer Look at Lindsey earlier in the year.
