Previewing the 2013 National Prep School Invitational
- Updated: January 31, 2013
Kevin Farrahar note: The National Prep School Invitational has become not only one of my favorite prep events of the year, but one of my most anticipated weekends in general. From a basketball perspective it has been a terrific opportunity to see future Friars, young recruits set to break out, soon-to-be Big East foes and in a lot of cases some of the biggest stars in college basketball at a young age. In recent seasons the weekend has featured a who’s who of elite high school talent including Andre Drummond, Kaleb Tarczewski, Nerlens Noel, Mo Harkless, Shabazz Napier, and Michael Carter-Williams. Going back further, the NPSI has also included NBA players like Michael Beasley, Caron Butler, DeAndre Jordan, Dion Waiters, Jarrett Jack, Dorrell Wright, and countless others.
From a Providence perspective, the weekend seems to bring focus to recruits being targeted, while new names emerge. We’ll have coverage from Friday-Sunday in 2013.

The annual National Prep School Invitational will be taking place at the Murray Center on the Rhode Island College campus starting on Thursday, January 31st and running through Sunday, February 3rd.
This is always a great event to see some top prep school players and this year’s event is no exception. Some of the top teams taking part in 2013 include Wilbraham & Monson, Brewster Academy, St. Thomas Moore, New Hampton Prep, and Cushing Academy. The event also includes three teams from Canada, a team from Spain, and teams from all across the country.
Some of the most intriguing games include Brewster vs. St. Thomas Moore, St. Andrew’s vs Northfield Mount Hermon, Wilbraham & Monson vs. Notre Dame Prep, Vermont Academy vs Brewster, and Tilton vs Northfield Mount Hermon. Click on the link below for the full schedule of games at the invitational:
