Mal Brown/Fanfest Details, Beaufort Update

The PC athletic department sent out a press release today regarding the Fanfest and annual Mal Brown scrimmage, scheduled to take place on October 20.  From the release:

PROVIDENCE COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL TO HOLD FANFEST

AND ANNUAL MAL BROWN SCRIMMAGE ON SATURDAY, OCT. 20 AT 10 A.M. 

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College Athletics will hold its annual Friar Fanfest on the Slavin Center Lawn on the Providence College campus on Saturday, October 20 at 10 a.m. The event is free for all Friar fans. The Fanfest will feature the annual Mal Brown intrasquad scrimmage at Noon in the newly renovated Mullaney Gymnasium with the 2012-13 men’s basketball team led by Head Coach Ed Cooley.

The event will feature mascots from around New England, including Paws of the Pawtucket Red Sox, Jake from Cat Country and more. In addition to the mascots, there will be activities and games for the whole family to participate in as well as a chance to win some great Friar prizes. The men’s and women’s basketball teams will be in attendance to meet and sign autographs for the fans. The Providence College cheerleading team and dance team also will be taking part in the day’s festivities.

In conjunction with Fanfest, Providence College also will be hosting the Annual Friar 5K. The race will begin at 10 a.m. This race is a 3.1 mile walk or run event that will take place in and around the PC campus. Registration is still available for this event. The Providence College Ticket Office will be open during the event for any fans looking to purchase tickets for the 2012-13 season.  Fans also can purchase season tickets by calling 401-865-GO PC or by visiting friars.com. 2014 guard Kahari Beaufort is scheduled to visit Providence for Late Night Madness and went on a PC-related Twitter binge over the last 24 hours, leading to speculation that he could potentially commit to the Friars.  The Connecticut native attends University High School of Science and Engineering in Hartford.

He holds offer from Drexel, Providence, Miami and Baylor according to the New England Recruiting Report.
