A Look Back: Providence vs Connecticut (2/28/12)

Game changing three point shooting was so often the key when Providence won in the Big East in 2011-12.  Shooting only 38% from the field for the game (33% from inside the arc), they managed to score 42 second half points, thanks in large part to a ten made 3 point field goals — seven of which came in the final 15 minutes, turning a 43-31 deficit into a 72-70 victory.

LaDontae Henton was huge for the Friars, scoring 18 points on 5-10 from beyond the arc, including the two biggest shots of the game — a three pointer with 1:56 to play to stretch a two point lead to five, and another three at the 1:01 mark to all but seal it.

Trailing by eight points with just over 10 minutes to play, Bryce Cotton knocked down a trio of threes in a two minute span to tie at at 54 with 8:24 remaining

Vincent Council dished out 11 assisted and Gerard Coleman finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists of his own.  Council, Cotton and Coleman all played 40 minutes.
