More information on PFB Weekend of the Stars

PFB_announcement

Earlier this week GoLocalProv had an article on the upcoming Providence Fullcourt Boardroom (PFB) Weekend of the Stars taking place August 9-12.  Proceeds from the weekend will support a variety of Providence basketball foundations, including Ryan Gomes’ Hoops for Heart Foundation, the MarShon Brooks Foundation, and scholarship for the Ed Cooley Basketball Camp.

The PFB sent a press release on the weekend.  Here are some of the highlights from the release:

1. PFB co-founder Sean Holley (PC class of 1984) had heard from former Providence athletes that they had an interest in being further connected to one another, so he developed the idea of creating a central medium where all those interested could have a common focal point.  After approaching Dickey Simpkins (PC  class of 1994), who heard similar interests voiced and shared the same passion for such a group, they came together as Co-Founders/Chairmen of the PROVIDENCE FULLCOURT BOARDROOM in the summer of 2011.

2. The excitement continues to build as PROVIDENCE FULLCOURT BOARDROOM is holding their first annual  PROVIDENCE FULLCOURT BOARDROOM  SUMMER WEEKEND OF STARS in the Providence area on August 9-12, 2012.  All events for that weekend are fundraisers to benefit: Marshon Brooks Foundation, Ryan Gomes’ Hoops for Heart Health Foundation, and PROVIDENCE FULLCOURT BOARDROOM Scholarships for Ed Cooley Basketball Camp for youth selected from Boys & Girls Club of Providence.

Cox Sports was there for the PFB’s kickoff event at McFadden’s in Providence in November.  Kevin Stacom and Ed Cooley talked to Vin Parise about that night on Friars All Access, while Cox provided video highlights of it as well.
